Blue and Red Squads battle it out at Development Camp

The Florida Panthers will close its annual development camp today with a scrimmage between the Blue and Red Squads at Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs at 9 a.m.

If you can’t attend in person, you can watch the scrimmage via livestream on the team’s official facebook page.

The Arizona Coyotes took a step toward solving its scoring woes on Saturday, acquiring six-time 30-goal man Phil Kessel from the Pittsburgh Penguins for center Alex Galchenyuk. A couple minor-league defensemen will also change places with Pierre-Oliver Joseph going to Pittsburgh while the Coyotes get Dane Birks and a fourth-round pick in 2021. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are reportedly working on a swap of defensemen Nikita Zaitsev and Cody Ceci with perhaps more parts and accessories involved. (Pension Plan Puppets)

Valeri Nichushkin was placed on waivers for the purpose of a buy-out by the Dallas Stars. Nichushkin would look good in a Panthers uniform for the right price. (Defending Big D)

The Vancouver Canucks did the same with forward Ryan Spooner. The 27-year-old Spooner played for three different NHL teams last season, finishing with just 9 points in 52 games. (TSN)
