Frank Vatrano shines on Day 2 of training camp

Dal Worsnop

After scoring one goal on the opening day of camp, winger Frank Vatrano added two more yesterday. In the first scrimmage of the morning, Vatrano lit the lamp twice to lead Group B to a 2-0 win over Group C. Vatrano is skating on a line with Vincent Trocheck and the newly acquired Brett Connolly.

In a bit of news that will bring joy to many, Owen Tippett scored a nice goal in the second scrimmage of the session.

Head coach Joel Quenneville had this to say about the second day of camp:

“Much better today, I thought there was way more pace, especially in that first scrimmage. That started off with exactly what we’re looking for. The practices were good, too. There was a little bit more speed. I think the guys are getting a little more predictable with where they need to go in certain situations, but I still think today was definitely an upgrade from yesterday.”
