Cats’ number one pick Anton Lundell remains on a roll

Anton Lundell, the Florida Panthers first round pick in 2020, scored the eventual game-winning goal 1:06 into the first period and added an assist on HIFK’s third tally in a 4-0 shutout win over JYP in Wednesday action from Finland’s Liiga.

The 19-year-old center now has eight goals and two assists in eight games played. His ten points is second-highest on the club behind Jere Sallinen, who has played two more games.

Lundell and Panthers forward Aleksi Saarela are tied for second in goals in Liiga behind Buffalo Sabres prospect Arttu Ruotsalainen of Ilves, who has nine goals.

Saarela was held off the score sheet for a second straight game in Lukko’s 4-1 win over SaiPa.

Defenseman Kasper Puutio, Florida’s fifth round pick in 2020, logged 10:24 TOI in Karpat’s 2-1 loss to Pelicans. Puutio was on the ice for both Pelicans goals.

In KHL action, defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok logged 18:39 of ice time and finished with a +1 rating in Dimano Minsk’s 3-0 win over Dinamo Riga. Kolyachonok, a second-rounder in 2019, blocked a shot and had one shot on goal in the game.

NHL signings

Alex Galchenyuk signed a one-year contract worth $1.05 million with the Ottawa Senators. Galchenyuk totaled 8 goals and 16 assists last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild. (Silver Seven)

The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed Kevin Stenlund to a one-year, two-way deal. Stenlund, 24, appeared in 32 games for the Blue Jackets last season and produced 6 goals and 10 points. (Pro Hockey Rumors)

Max McCormick signed a one-year, two-way deal to remain with the Carolina Hurricanes. McComick spent the 2019-20 season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, playing in 56 games and putting up 35 points. (CBS Sports)
