Cats’ Mason Marchment among NHL’s recent signees

Let’s play catch up on the most recent signings across the National Hockey League, including one from the local team, that we haven’t touched on yet.

The Florida Panthers have re-signed forward Mason Marchment to a one-year, two-way contract worth $700K at the NHL level and $85K at the minor-league level.

Marchment, 25, appeared in his first four NHL regular season games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019-20, recording one assist. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound native of Uxbridge, Ontario, also produced 13 goals and 20 points in 30 American Hockey League games split between the Toronto Marlies and the Springfield Thunderbirds. Marchment was acquired from the Maple Leafs on February 19 in exchange for forward Denis Malgin.

Restricted free agent forward Anthony Mantha re-upped for four years with the Detroit Red Wings. The 26-year-old’s new deal carries an AAV of $5.7 million. Mantha put up 16 goals and 38 points in 43 games in 2019-20. (Winging It In Motown)

The New York Islanders avoided an arbitration hearing with Ryan Pulock, signing the defenseman to a two-year deal worth $10 million. Pulock posted career-highs with 25 assists and 35 points in 2019-20. (Lighthouse Hockey)

Christian Jaros avoided an arbitration hearing with the Ottawa Senators by signing a one-year, two-way contract that will pay $750K at the NHL and $250K at the minor-league level. Jaros appeared in 13 games with Ottawa and 34 AHL games with the Belleville Senators last season. (Silver Seven)

The Buffalo Sabres signed UFA goaltender Dustin Tokarski to a two-year, two-way contract that will pay $725K at the NHL level. Tokarski appeared in 18 games for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and posted a 1.97 GAA last season. (Die By The Blade)

The Edmonton Oilers re-signed defenseman William Lagesson to a two-year contact. Lagesson’s new deal is two-way in the first year and one-way in the second year. The 24-year-old Swede appeared in 8 games with the Oilers and 25 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL in 2019-20. (Copper and Blue)

The San Jose Sharks signed UFA right wing Kurtis Gabriel to a one-year, two-way contract that will pay $700K at the NHL level and $175K at the minor-league level. Gabriel registered 5 goals and 9 points in 53 AHL games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. (Fear The Fin)
