Saarela scores in Finland’s 3-2 win over Sweden

Florida Panthers forward Aleksi Saarela scored Finland’s first goal in a 3-2 comeback win over arch-rival Sweden today at the Karjala Cup. Saarela’s goal came 14:10 into the second period and cut the Swede’s lead in half.

Finland finished the tournament in third place with a 1-2 record. They were blanked 2-0 yesterday by the Czech Republic.

Russia whitewashed the Czech Republic 3-0 today to win the tournament. That the Russians won all thee games is made even more impressive when you consider they brought its U20 team to the four-team tournament. The Czechs finished in second place with a 2-1 record.

Jamie Drysdale was the only player to sign an NHL contract on Saturday, inking his entry-level deal with the Anaheim Ducks. Drysdale, a defenseman, was the sixth overall pick in the 2020 Entry Draft. He produced 47 points in 49 games for the Erie Otters of the OHL. (Anaheim Calling)
