USA Hockey has named 29 players to the preliminary roster of its 2021 U.S. National Junior Team. The group, which includes 10 members of the 2020 U.S. National Junior Team, will gather for a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI, starting on December 6
Players are vying for a spot on the final 25-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2021 World Junior Championship in Edmonton, Alberta, that will run from December 25, 2020 to January 5, 2021. The final roster will be announced on December 13, prior to the team’s departure from Plymouth to Edmonton that day.
Among the three goaltenders named to the roster is Florida Panthers prospect Spencer Knight, the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Knight, a sophomore at Boston College, is currently 2-0 with a 3.00 GAA and .909 save percentage for the Eagles.
It looks certain that Team USA will carry three goalies so the 19-year-old is a lock to make the roster along with fellow keepers Dustin Wolf and Drew Commesso.
Knight appeared in all five games for the Americans in the 2020 edition of the tournament, posting a 2.49 GAA and .913 save percentage.
