Berger and UConn fall to UMass-Lowell

Florida Panthers prospect Carter Berger had one shot on goal, blocked a shot, and finished with an even rating in Connecticut’s 2-1 loss to UMass-Lowell last night. Berger, a fourth round choice in 2019 NHL Entry Draft, is still looking for his first point of the season. The sophomore defenseman is even in the three games he has played for the 1-3-1 Huskies. Berger had 10 points in 31 games as a freshman.

The United States and Finland will play in an exhibition game tonight at the World Junior Championship in Edmonton. Spencer Knight, Anton Lundell and perhaps Kasper Puutio should see some ice time. Puck drop is 9:30 p.m.

Alec Rauhauser and the 10th place DVTK Polar Bears will take on league-leading HK Poprad today in Tipos Extraliga action. Rauhauser has three goals and seven assists in 16 games for DVTK.

In the KHL, Vladislav Kolyachonok and Dinamo Minsk will face Salavat Yulaev.

Emil Djuse and Spartak Moscow will do battle with Ak Bars.

Maxim Mamin an CSKA Moscow will take on SKA St. Petersburg.
