Scouting Report

The Florida Panthers (32-23-6) went 2-1-0 in California on their current five-date excursion after ending a two-game winning run with a 5-4 defeat to the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center on Thursday. Aleksander Barkov (20 goals, 60 points this year) scored twice. Jonathan Huberdeau (22 goals, 76 points) banked a snipe and three assists, while Mike Hoffman (49 points) picked up his 23rd strike of the season, as the Cats have now gone 4-7-1 in their past 12 contests after winning six outings in a row prior. They are 16-11-4 when playing on the road so far this season.

The Vegas Golden Knights (32-22-8) extended their winning run to four outings after beating the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning with a score of 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday. Alec Martinez (2 goals, 10 points this year), who joined Vegas in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, banked a snipe and an assist on his Golden Knights debut, with Mark Stone (21 goals, 59 points) and Max Pacioretty (28 goals, 58 points) also collecting a marker and a helper.
