2019-20 season could come to an end tonight

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars will meet tonight in what could be the last game of the 2019-20 season. Dallas stayed alive on Saturday night with a 3-2 double overtime win over the Lightning, thanks to 35-year-old veteran Corey Perry.

Dallas, who trailed 2-1 in the third period, now has nine comeback wins in the postseason, one short of the record set by the 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Steven Stamkos has been ruled out for the rest of the series. Stamkos provided a lift by returning to play 2:47 and scoring a goal in Game 3. No offense to Stamkos, but I’m glad we have finality on this angle.

The Stars have given the Lightning all they can handle, but I think the Bolts win the series tonight putting all focus on the upcoming 2020 NHL Entry Draft, which begins on October 6, and the opening of free agency on October 9.

Will the Florida Panthers, who acquired Patric Hornqvist last week, make the second move of the Bill Zito era before those two dates? I wouldn’t be surprised.

Tonight’s start will be at 8 p.m. with NBC handling the television coverage.

You can pregame at Raw Charge (Lighting) and Defending Big D (Stars) prior to puck drop.
