Scouting Report

The Florida Panthers will face elimination on Monday night after they fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 on Sunday. The Panthers played much better than the final score would indicate but they just couldn’t get the saves they needed from Sergei Bobrovsky who let in five goals on just 14 shots before being replaced by Chris Driedger. Expect coach Joel Quenneville to go back to Driedger in net for Game 5. Driedger was the better goalie all season and probably should have been the starting goalie for the Panthers in this series all along. The Panthers had no issues creating scoring chances and even outshot the Lightning 41-26.

If you look at the advanced statistics for the last game the Expected Score was actually 7.4 – 2.61 in favor of the Panthers. Florida will benefit from home ice in this game as the series heads back to the BB&T Center. The Panthers were a very impressive 20-5-3 at home while the Lightning were a very mediocre 15-10-3 on the road. The Panthers will have some great fan support for this one as Florida announced they plant to accept up to 75% capacity. Another positive for the Panthers has been the stellar play of Jonathan Huberdeau who now has eight points through the first four games. With their backs up against the wall, and their fans’ support behind them, expect to see the Panthers’ best game of the series on Monday. to keep their season alive.
