Congratulations goes out to SymmGod for winning the first round of Litter Box Cats Playoff Predictions contest. SymmGod racked up an impressive 32 points by getting six series right (including 8 through 4) in the confidence pool and picking up one bonus point.

Najski was the only other contestant to go 6-2 series-wise (also picking up a bonus point) to finish in a second place tie with DayZeroPantherFan with 25 points.

BoutThirdyMan52, Flpanthers308, davidknight1304, chasejs2013892 and Brent Temple tied for fourth place with 23 points.

World Championship

Finland has just defeated Canada 3-2 in a shootout at the World Championship in Riga. Anton Lundell set up Arttu Ruotsalainen’s game-tying with four minutes left in regulation. Lundell finished the game with one shot on goal and a +2 rating. Ruotsalainen scored both of Finland’s goals and bagged the game-winner in the shootout.

Canada can advance to the quarterfinals (by the skin of its teeth) if there is a regulation winner in the game between Germany and Latvia. If the game goes to overtime Canada will be eliminated.

Team America World Police can win Group B, meaning Finland will finish in second place, with a regulation time victory over Italy. Italy is winless, so expect the U.S. to win the group and draw the fourth place team in Group A in the quarters.

Stanley Cup Playoffs

Carey Price made 30 saves, and the Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 3-1 victory in Game 7. Brendan Gallagher, Corey Perry and Tyler Toffoli scored the goals for the upstart Canadiens, who rallied from a 3-1 series deficit.
