The Vegas Golden Knights got three goals from defensemen in its series-opening 4-1 victory over the upstart Montreal Canadiens at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

Shea Theodore had a goal and an assist, and fellow blueliners Alec Martinez and Nick Holden also tallied for the Golden Knights, who have won five straight games since losing the first two in the Stanley Cup Second Round against the Colorado Avalanche. Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves to collect his 90th postseason win and Mattias Janmark notched his fourth playoff goal.

Cole Caufield scored the only goal for Montreal. It was the Hobey Baker Award-winner’s first career postseason marker.

Carey Price stopped 26 shots in what was the first game in the United States for the Canadiens since March 7, 2020.
