Lightning even series with the Islanders

Brayden Point scored for a fifth straight game, and Nikita Kucherov dished out three assists for the Tampa Bay Lightning, who evened its semifinal series against the New York Islanders with a 4-2 win at Amalie Arena.

The Bolts have not lost consecutive games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since the 2019 Eastern Conference First Round (11-0).

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 24 saves, and Ondrej Palat, Jan Rutta, and Victor Hedman (PPG) scored the other goals for Tampa Bay.

Brock Nelson (PPG) and Mathew Barzal scored, and Semyon Varlamov made 23 stops for the Islanders, who entered Game 2 on a four-game winning streak. Ilya Sorokin made six saves in the first period after Varlamov missed the final 6:50 following a collision with Point.

Lindblom wins Masterton

Oskar Lindblom of the Philadelphia Flyers won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Lindblom, 24, played his first full season since beating Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.
