AHL: Houston dominates San Antonio in 5-1 loss

Eight shots on goal. That was the best the San Antonio Rampage would have in a single period on Tuesday, as they were dominated by the second-seeded Houston Aeros. The only goal came from Greg Rallo, his team-leading tenth of the season, assisted by Colby Robak and Alexander Petrovic. In the final 6:22 , the Aeros scored three goals causing current AHL Player of the Week Jacob Markstrom to lose his first game since November 24th.

Rampage Heroes

  • Penalty Kill: San Antonio has the second best penalty kill on the road, the Aeros have the six best powerplay overall, but the 25th at home. The PK killed all three Aeros opportunities, including two in the first period. /

Rampage Zeroes

  • Alexander Petrovic: I’m not a big fan of plus/minus, but Petrovic was on the ice for all three of the final goals against in the third. Tyson Strachan is out indefinitely, and not with the team on the road trip, and this was a bad way for Petrovic impression after being a healthy scratch on Sunday.
  • Powerplay: Rampage had two chances to score on the 5-on-4 advantage in the second, and recorded the lowest shot total in the game with six. Just six shots in a period with two powerplays! The Aeros are 24th in home penalty kills, 21st overall.

Next game is Friday at 8:00 pm ET against the Oklahoma City Barons.
