AHL: Rampage finish the season with embarrassing shutout loss to Heat

The San Antonio Rampage wrapped up the 2013-14 AHL season by getting whitewashed 3-0 by the visiting Abbotsford Heat in front of a large crowd of 12,473 at the AT&T Center. The win pushed the Heat past the Milwaukee Admirals for the five seed in the Western Conference. Those teams play their final games today.

The disappointing Rampage (30-37-3-6) wound up going 3-7 in their last ten games, finishing at least 12 points out of a playoff spot. Eighth place Oklahoma City still has one game remaining.

Zach Davies, Emile Poirier, and Max Reinhart were the Abbotsford scorers. Reinhart also added two assists. Former Panthers prospect Corban Knight drew a helper on Reinhart’s 21st goal.

Doug Carr turned aside 27 shots to post the shutout, while Scott Clemmensen, in likely his last bit of duty for the Florida organization, made 19 stops.

Bobby Butler finished as San Antonio’s scoring leader with 22 goals and 47 points. Vincent Trocheck, who didn’t play last night, and Drew Shore led the club in assists with 26. Jacob Markstrom and Michael Houser each won 12 games to lead the team. Markstrom posted the lowest GAA at 2.85.
