AHL: Rampage thrashed in another 5-1 loss

The Oklahoma City Barons scored three goals in the first period off 17 shots, with San Antonio only responding with eight shots. The Rampage only goal came in the second from former Panther Jon Sim (pictured above with the Islanders), his first AHL goal since November 21st, 2010, assisted by Jared Gomes, the only silver and black with points. Jacob Markstrom allowed four goals in the first two periods, nine in his last six periods (100 minutes) and was replaced by Dov Grumet-Morris at the start of the third. Grumet-Morris allowed one goal on seven shots.

Rampage Heroes

  • Penalty Kill: The Oklahoma City Barons have the best home powerplay in the AHL, with San Antonio having the second best road penalty kill. The Barons only managed to score one powerplay goal on six opportunities.
  • Jon Sim: Scored San Antonio’s only goal and led the game with eight shots./

Rampage Zeroes

  • Powerplay: Oklahoma City is 29th in home penalty killing, but you couldn’t tell from the way the Rampage played. The Barons killed all five San Antonio powerplay chances, and made it look easy.
  • Alexander Petrovic: Minus-two and given dual game misconducts at the end, one for “physical abuse of officials”. With the defensive depth already thin thanks to injuries to John Lee and Tyson Strachan, a suspension is the last thing the team needs.

Rampage get another shot against the Barons tonight at 8:00 pm EST.
