NHL Draft 2017: Florida Panthers select Aleksi Heponiemi with No. 40 overall pick
Cats grab lanky Finn from Swift Current
The Florida Panthers have selected Finnish-born center Aleksi Heponiemi in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Heponiemi scored 26 goals and added 56 assists for 86 points in his first season with the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos and was named the Eastern Conference’s Rookie of the Year.
Despite a smaller frame and lighter build, Heponiemi is a highly skilled, point-producer.
