Rocket forward Belzile gives Montreal Candiens 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers

AHL veteran Alex Belzile scored a shorthanded goal with 6:03 remaining in the third period to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win against the Florida Panthers in the Kraft Hockeyville Canada game at K.C. Irving Regional Centre in New Brunswick.

Florida’s first line clicked during the game with Evgenii Dadonov and Jonathan Huberdeau each producing a goal and an assist and Aleksander Barkov picking up two assists. Mike Hoffman scored the other Cats goal and Aaron Ekblad registered two helpers.

Jeff Petry and Matthew Peca each had a goal and assist for the Canadiens, who are now 2-0 during the preseason. Riley Barber scored, and Charlie Lindgren stopped 17 shots.

The Panthers led the game 3-2 before Barber and Belzile scored goals in a 2:34 span to turn the tide.

Chris Driedger went the distance in goal and finished with 15 saves on 19 shots.

The two teams will meet tonight at Bell Centre in Montreal.
