Florida Panthers sign Anton Lundell to entry-level contract

The Florida Panthers just announced that top prospect Anton Lundell has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract.

General Manager Bill Zito had this to say:

“Anton is a cerebral, skilled and dynamic young player who continuously established himself in Finland’s top league and played a pivotal role on Finland’s national teams at all levels. Anton’s maturity, compete level and sound two-way ability are exciting qualities to add to our organization. We are thrilled to have signed Anton and look forward to his future with the Florida Panthers for years to come.”

The 19-year-old Lundell appeared in 26 games with HIFK of Finland’s top-level Liiga, registering a team-leading 16 goals and 25 points. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Espoo, Finland, served as the club’s alternate captain.

Selected by Florida in the first round (12th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Lundell played in 106 career games for HIFK (2018-19 to 2020-21), registering a total of 72 points (35G/37A).

He made his IIHF World Championship debut for Finland in the 2021 tournament, recording a team-leading four goals and seven points over 10 games (4-3-7) and earning a Silver Medal.

Lundell earned a Bronze Medal while serving as captain of Finland at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. He produced a team-leading 10 points and six goals, finishing the tournament third in points and goals.
