Bob Boughner named assistant coach for Canada at 2018 IIHF World Championship

Florida Panthers head coach Bob Boughner has been named assistant coach for Team Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, which will be held in  Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark from May 4-20.

Boughner will join Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters and St.  Louis Blues head coach Mike Yeo on Team Canada’s coaching staff for the tournament.

In his first season as the Cats head coach, Boughner led the team to a 44-30-8 record for 96 points. In the 35 games following the All-Star Break, the Panthers racked up a 25-8-2 record, recording the most wins in the NHL and the most points in the Eastern Conference.

Canada will open group play against the United States on May 4.
