Canadiens, Price rattle Panthers 6-2

Not a lot of good to take away from this one, as Montreal schooled the Cats in every aspect of the game. Two positives are to be gleaned from this catastrophe: it’s still only preseason, and if the Panthers were to choose any night to expose their hangups, this is the one.

A number of reassignments are expected from the club shortly, and dissecting video should be a long and painful process for the coaching staff on this night, worse so given the horribly lopsided final score. The only area in which Florida held their own was in numerous fisticuffs, and even then Erik Gudbranson was treated to a monster cheap shot by Travis Moen.

Anyway, David Booth and Stephen Weiss (a futile goal late in a washout) scored for the visitors, while Jacob Markstrom looked positively ECHL-caliber in relief of Tomas Vokoun.

Montreal (whose fans began the “Ole Ole” nonsense with five minutes remaining…in the second period) continued wave after wave of sustained offensive pressure and physical dominance as netminder Carey Price simply showed up; Cats never really were in this one.

Numbers and all the usual fun stuff in the a.m.
