Caterwaul: Booth scores a pair, Panthers cut six from camp

Still don’t get the decision as to why the Panthers wore road whites while playing in their own affiliate’s building, but ooookay. Also figured the use of baby-blues would have been set in stone, but I lacked foresight on that one as well.

David Booth had a mighty fine return to competitive action for the first time since late last season, when the second of two concussions ended his year prematurely. But you know all about that.

His two markers – on four shots – lead the club in preseason goals, tying him with Erik Gudbranson (1g), Evgeni Dadonov, Michael Frolik, and Joe Callahan in points. Guessing here, but it would appear the headaches are behind him. Which is of course critical to the club’s success over the coming year. Plus, the sky is indeed blue.

On the subject of injuries, does anyone else share the fear I have any time the Panthers hit a sheet of ice? So many man-games have been lost to injury over the past five seasons that any other attitude would seem cavalier.

Another great evening was had by all over at On Frozen Pond (though I’ll have to temper my Seinfeld quotations next time out; sorry Billy Mumfrey), and we’ll head in that direction again Saturday evening as the Broons host Florida at TDShawmuttFleetCenterBankNorthGarden. Big thanks to GR for pulling everyone together.

Reminder:  As we’ve done for the past two years, we’ll be hosting Live Chats during every game throughout the regular season, so do join us when the puck drops in Edmonton on October 10th at 8pm (ET).

Cuts: The Panthers made several subtractions to the training camp roster over the past 24 hours. Assigned to Rochester are Michael Caruso, Adam Comrie, Mike Kostka, Colby Robak, and Clay Wilson (via waivers), while NHL veteran Tyler Arnason, a camp invitee, has been released.

Of the five players assigned to Rochester, which was most deserving of additional time in Training Camp?

D Mike Caruso 2
D Adam Comrie 27
D Colby Robak 38
D Mike Kostka 3
D Clay Wilson 13
