Thursday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The San Jose Sharks were Wednesday’s NHL team of note.

San Jose signed center Chris Tierney to a new two-year deal worth $5.875 million, avoiding arbitration. Tierney posted career-highs of 17 goals, 23 assists and 40 points while playing in all 82 games for the Sharks last season. The 24-year-old added two assists in ten postseason games. (Fear The Fin)

San Jose also signed defenseman Ryan Merkley and center Alex True to entry-level contracts. Merkley was selected with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 Entry Draft while the Danish True is an undrafted player who spent last season in the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda. (Fear The Fin)

The Los Angeles Kings signed RFA defenseman Alex Lintuniemi to a one-year, two-way deal. The 22-year-old  Finn put up 24 points in 64 AHL games with the Ontario Reign in 2017-18. (LA Daily News)

Forward Josh Currie earned a two-year, two-way deal with the Edmonton Oilers. The undrafted Currie spent the last two seasons with Edmonton’s AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. (Edmonton Journal)
