The Florida Panthers (2-1-2) will hook up with the Tampa Bay Lightning (4-1-0) for the second of three preseason battles between the clubs tonight at Estero's Germain Arena, home of the ECHL's Florida Everblades, tonight at 7:30 pm.
The Lightning edged the Cats 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday night in Tampa. The teams will meet again this weekend in Sunrise to close out their respective exhibition schedules.
Forwards Kris Versteeg and Jonathan Huberdeau are expected to suit up for the first time during the preseason tonight. Goaltender Tim Thomas, who is reportedly waiting on the ownership change to sign a contract, could also play but that will be decided by coach Kevin Dineen after the morning skate.
In roster news, defenseman Mike Mottau was placed on waivers and rookie pivot Vincent Trocheck was sent down to San Antonio, bringing the roster count to 28 with an additional three players (Brad Boyes, Tim Thomas and Tom Gilbert) in camp on PTOs.
