Tuesday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum

Eight in a row. That’s the winning streak in which the Chicago Blackhawks find themselves currently enmeshed. And at just the right time, former Panthers winger Michael Frolik has begun to contribute offensively: 4 points (2 goals) in his past three are evidence that he’s growing comfortable in an established system which isn’t leaning on him to carry the mail. It’s a perfect situation for a guy we’ve watched grow up over the past three seasons, but even he admits tonight’s match from Sunrise borders on the surreal: “I want to play the best hockey against every team, but it’s a little bit weird that (I) played here a few weeks ago.”

The other element of that February 9th deal remains out with an ankle issue, so forward Jack Skille will have to wait for a reunion with the club that drafted him until next season at the earliest.

Related:  is anyone really all that bothered by this? I just don’t see it being anywhere near as harmful, PR-wise, as the direct marketing to fans of the Penguins, Flyers, Rangers, et al. The Hawks are here once this season, Tallon’s former club, let the love-in happen and move along.

Also: It’s roster “clear day” for the Amerks; sort it all out here, as all eyes will turn toward Tim Kennedy at noon.

Plus:  Check out Mike Chen’s breakdown on the NHL’s suitors for the next  television contracts line up. A terrific read.
