Louis Domingue stopped all 18 shots faced to backstop the Charlotte Checkers to a 3-0 win over the Bridgeport Islanders last night at Bojangles Coliseum.

It was the 34-year-old veteran’s first shutout of the season.

Team scoring leading Ben Steeves got the eventual game-winner 6:03 into the first period with the lone assist going to Jack Studnicka.

Steeves assisted on Brett Chorske’s goal to make it 2-0 with 1:55 left in the middle frame.

Sandis Vilmanis notched his 11th of the season midway through the third, from Brian Pinho and Noah Gregor, to complete the scoring. Vilmanis has five goals in his last seven AHL games.

Charlotte raised its record to 34-18-5. The two teams will meet again this evening.
