The Charlotte Checkers split a weekend back-to-back against the Rochester Americans at Bojangles Coliseum.

On Friday, the Checkers romped to a 6-0 victory over the Americans with Ken Appleby posting a 19-save shutout. Riese Gaber scored twice (his first two goals of the season) and added an assist and Sandis Vilmanis, Oliver Okuliar, Ben Steeves and Wilmer Skoog also lit the lamp for Charlotte. Steeves and Matt Kiersted finished with two assists and Trevor Carrick, Rasmus Asplund, Mikulas Hovorka, Kyle Criscuolo, Zac Dalpe, Marek Alscher and Patrick Giles were each credited with one helper apiece.

The Americans turned the tables on the Checkers on Saturday, with former Panther prospect Devon Levi stopping all 30 shots faced in a 3-0 Rochester win. Rookie Cooper Black made 16 saves on 18 shots for Charlotte. John Leonard, Carrick and Kiersted each registered a game-high four shots on goal.

Charlotte (11-5-1-2) has a three-game road trip this week. They will play the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday and Friday and then the Hershey Bears on Saturday.
