The Florida Panthers moved closer to completing its offseason checklist by signing prospect defenseman Chase Priskie to a one-year, two-way contract.
The new deal will pay the 25-year-old blueliner the league minimum of $750K at the NHL level and $70K at the AHL level.
Priskie is heading into his third professional season, having amassed 11 goals and 42 points in 72 career AHL games. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
The Pembroke Pines native put up 31 points in 52 games as a rookie for the Charlotte Checkers in 2019-20 before he was traded to the Cats by the Carolina Hurricanes as part of the deadline day deal for Vincent Trocheck. After the trade, Priskie recorded four points in five games with the Springfield Thunderbirds to finish off the season.
With the Checkers on hiatus due to COVID-19, Priskie appeared in just 15 games as a member of the Syracuse Crunch in 2020-21. He finished the season with three goals and four assists, and posted a +4 rating.
NHL signings
The New Jersey Devils signed forward Tomas Tatar to a two-year contract worth $9 million. His cap hit will be $4.5 million dollars; he will be paid $3.75 million next season and $5.25 million in the second season. The Nashville Predators inked defenseman Dante Fabbro to a two-year, $4.8 million contract Thursday, avoiding salary arbitration. His hearing was set for August 20. (Tennessean)
The Pittsburgh Penguins avoided arbitration with forward Zach Ashton-Reese, signing him to a new one-year contract worth $1.725 million. (Pensburgh)
