Florida Panthers sign forward Cole Schwindt to entry-level contract

The Florida Panthers have announced that the club has agreed to terms with forward Cole Schwindt on a three-year, entry-level contract.

From the mouth of GM Dale Tallon:

”Cole is a talented and responsible two-way player who had an excellent season playing a key role with Mississauga,. He possesses great versatility, size and character and we are excited about his continued development with the Panthers.”

The 18-year-old Schwindt appeared in 57 games with the OHL’s Mississauga Steeleheads in 2019-20, recording a team-leading 71 points on 28 goals and 43 assists.

He was named the OHL’s “Player of the Month” for December after leading the league with 21 points (12G/9A) in 12 games. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound native of Kitchener, ON, has produced a total of 55 goals and 138 points over 191 regular season games with the Steelheads.

Schwindt increased his output from 18 points in his first year in the OHL to 49 in 2018-19 before he hit 71 points this season when the OHL canceled the remainder of the campaign.

He was originally selected by Florida in the third round (81st overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
