Devils vs Rangers: ECF Game Five Open Thread

(6) New Jersey at (1) NY Rangers, 8 p.m. (NBCSN):

  • The Rags make their 101st appearance of the regular season & playoffs this evening, hosting the Devils in a series knotted at two victories each. Rookie forward Chris Kreider leads all players with 3 goals while teammate Dan Girardi has 2 gamewinners. Zach Parise (2G) and Bryce Salvador (1G) pace the Devils with 4 points. Patrik Elias (minus-4) hasn’t scored since Game Three vs PHI; Ilya Kovalchuk (1G) is minus-3 on the current series. Goaltenders: Henrik Lundqvist – 1.51/.947 (2 SO); Martin Brodeur – 1.76/.931.

Of note…

  • QMJHL: The Saint John Sea Dogs face host the “visiting” Shawinigan Cataractes as they fight for positioning in the final round-robin game of the 2012 Mastercard Memorial Cup. Panthers prospect Jonathan Huberdeau leads the Sea Dogs in points with 2 goals and 1 assist (6 PIM) in first two games of the best-of-three series.
  • USHL: Game Five of the Clark Cup Final is tonight, with 2011 Florida draftee Eddie Wittchow playing his final game with the Waterloo Black Hawks before heading to the University of Wisconsin. Waterloo faces Anderson Cup (i.e. Presidents’ Trophy) Champion Green Bay Gamblers from the Resch Center at 8 pm EST. Wittchow has 4 assists in 11 playoff games with a plus-two and six penalty minutes.
