Panthers’ Kulikov And Lokomotiv Complete Drive For Five

Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov logged 18:23 minutes of ice time, had no shots on goal and finished with an even rating during Lokomotiv Yaroslavl’s exciting 4-3 shootout win over Salavat Yulaev Ufa in Friday action from the KHL. The win was the fifth in a row for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Three of the wins have come in regulation time and the other two via the shootout.

Salavat Yulaev got on the board early as Alexei Kaigorodov picked up his first goal of the season at the 2:26 mark of the first period. Lokomotiv defenseman Staffan Kronwall evened things up just over four minutes later, scoring on the power play with the only assist going to Alexander Chernikov. The goal was Kronwall’s fifth of the campaign.

In the second period, Emil Galimov converted an Artem Anisimov feed for his second goal of the season to give visiting Lokomotiv its first lead of the night.

Salavat Yulaev would rally in the third period as Tomas Rolinek scored his first of the season at the 9:44 mark. Lokomotiv would regain the lead as Galimov set up Anisimov this time for his second goal of the season with 4:03 left in regulation time. Slavat Yulaev would not go quietly, evening things again with Rolinek potting his second goal of the night at 18:06 to send the game to overtime.

After neither team could score in the extra period, the game went to the shootout. Lokomotiv would get goals from Emil Galimov and former Panther Viktor Kolzov while Curtis Sanford would stop both of the Ufa chances he faced to build an insurmountable advantage and secure the win. Sanford made 36 saves and is undefeated in three starts for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl while Vadim Tarasov took the loss for Salavat Yulaev.
