Kulikov Scores First Goal For Lokomotiv Yaroslavl In 4-2 Win

Kulikov lit the lamp off a feed from former Florida Panthers forward Viktor Kozlov while on the power play to give Lokomotiv a 2-0 lead in the second period. Alexei Kalyuzhny had scored an unassisted power play goal to open the scoring five minutes earlier. Winnipeg Jets defenseman Mark Flood extended the lead to 3-0 with an even strength goal with assists going to Artem Anisimov and Dmitry Maltsev. In the third period, Lokomotiv’s Alexander Cherniko scored on a penalty shot after being tripped by Alexei Litvinenko. Barys Astana would finally get on the board with a late power play goal from Konstantin Rudenko. Nigel Dawes would also score on the man advantage for Astana with one second remaining to make the score 4-2. Seymon Varlamov posted the win in goal for Lokomotiv while Teemu Lassila took the loss for Barys Astana. Kulikov logged 21:16 of ice time, had two shots on goal and finished the game with an even rating. The win was the tenth of the season for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl who remained on top of the KHL’s Western Conference.
