The Florida Panthers concluded the 2025 NHL Prospect Tournament in Wesley Chapel, FL with an empathic 6-1 romp over the Nashville Predators at AdventHealth Center Ice.
Sandis Vilmanis, Ludvig Jansson, Liam McLinskey, Eamon Powell, Cristophe Tellier and Josh Davies (his shot might have hit Robert Mastrosimone) got the goals for the Panthers, who scored twice in each period.
Powell drew the primary assist on McLinskey’s marker with a great stretch pass. Gracyn Sawchyn and Jack Devine also had helpers, as did Mastrosimone if he didn’t get Davies’ goal.
Cooper Black made his second start of the tournament and played the first forty minutes without surrendering a goal. Invite Louis-Antoine Denault came on at the start of the third and gave up a rebound goal to Cole O’Hara late in regulation.
After the game, the teams held a five-round shootout that saw the goalies rule as nobody was able to light the lamp. Anton Lundmark and Shea Busch caught iron on their chances.
Black, who also beat Carolina in the opener, was hands down Florida’s best player at event, followed by Vilmanis, who looks primed and ready for training camp. That is, if he is ok after crashing into the boards late in the first period.
