ReCat: Life of Reilly

On Monday night in Sunrise, the Florida Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-1 to get back to .500.

The Cats’ record now stands at 6-6-1, thanks to goals from Jonathan Marchessault (7), Reilly Smith (3) (see below) and Derek MacKenzie (1). Assists were earned by Keith Yandle (6, 7) and Aleksander Barkov (4). Roberto Luongo stopped 34-of-35 shots for the victory to push his personal record to 4-5-0 and his save percentage from .908 to .917 for the season.

Ben Bishop was almost as nearly unsolvable, stopping 29-of-31. Ondrej Palat (2) was the only Bolt to light the lamp, unassisted in the beginning of the third period.

Florida’s special teams came through for the third game in a row, going one-for-three on the power play and keeping Tampa Bay’s power play scoreless through three chances. This includes overlapping penalties and the resultant five-on-three for nearly a minute in the middle of the first period.

Check back here in the morning for the full length recap. Next up for the Panthers, a home matchup against the defending Western Conference Champion San Jose Sharks.
