Panthers acquire AHLers Adam Wilcox and Reece Scarlett

In addition to their big move of acquiring forward Thomas Vanek from Detroit, the Florida Panthers made a couple of minor-league moves on deadline day.

The Cats added another young goaltender to their prospect base, trading veteran AHLer Mike McKenna to the Tampa Bay Lightning for 24-year-old Adam Wilcox.

Wilcox, the 178th overall pick in the 2011 draft, played college hockey for the University of Minnesota and was in his second season with the Syracuse Crunch. In 34 games with the Crunch this season, Wilcox posted a 18-9-2 record with a 2.87 GAA and .895 save percentage. He will report to the Springfield Thunderbirds and partner with Reto Berra.

Florida also acquired defensman Reece Scarlett from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Shane Harper.

Scarlett was in his fourth season with Albany and now has 215 AHL games to his credit. In 50 games this season, the 23-year-old scored 4 goals with 17 assists to go along with a -6 rating. Scarlett was selected by the Devils in sixth round (159th overall) of the 2011 draft. He too will report to Springfield as the T-Birds play out the string of a very underwhelming campaign.
