Recently acquired goaltender Akira (Akira, Akira) Schmid and the Florida Panthers have an arbitration hearing scheduled for August 1. Schmid, a restricted free agent, was tendered a qualfiying offer by the Vegas Golden Knights before he was traded to the Panthers for a third round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft on June 29.
Peyton Krebs also had a hearing on the slate for August 1, but he agreed to a four-year deal worth $18 million with the Buffalo Sabres. The 25-year-old forward produced a career-high 39 points (12G/27A) in 82 regular-season games for the Sabres last season and two goals and six points in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Sabres also acquired forward Zac Funk from the Washington Capitals in exchange for forward Tyler Kopff.
Defenseman Braden Schneider and the New York Rangers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million. Schneider, 24, recorded two goals and 16 assists in 82 games with the Rangers last season.
Of the fifteen players who filed for salary arbitration, Krebs, Schneider and Ottawa’s Xavier Bourgault have now come to terms with their clubs.

The Winnipeg Jets inked forward Viggo Björck to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $1,075,000. Björck, the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, produced six goals and 15 points in 42 games with Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League. In 2024-25, Björck broke Sweden’s J20 Nationell record for scoring by a 16-year-old with 74 points in 42 games.
Goaltender Filip Ruzicka signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild. The 18-year-old Czech, who was taken in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2026 draft, went 26-14-2 with a 3.19 GAA, .906 save percentage, and two shutouts for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings.
The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Fabian Lysell to a one-year, two-way contract worth $850K. Lysell spent the 2025-26 campaign in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, where he produced 17 goals and 42 points in 57 games.
Defenseman Ronnie Attard inked a one-year, two-way contract worth $850K with the Detroit Red Wings. Attard, 27, put up three goals and 17 points in 44 games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles last season.
