The Florida Panthers (3-4) limp into Beantown looking to end a four-game losing streak when they face the Boston Bruins (3-4) at TD Garden in the finale of what has been a completely dreadful road trip.
Things went from bad to worse for the goal-starved Panthers on Saturday, as they were shut out for the first time this season by former goaltender Alex Lyon and the Buffalo Sabres. Mackie Samoskevich did his best to crack the goose egg with a game-high seven shots on goal. Leading scorer Brad Marchand, who registered four shots, saw his five-game point streak come to an end.
The Bruins are back in Boston after a three-game road trip that saw stops in Las Vegas, Denver and Salt Lake City. After suffering losses to the Avalanche and Golden Knights, the Bruins were edged 3-2 by the Mammoth on Sunday night when Dylan Guenther scored midway through the third period. Boston got a pair of goals David Pastrnak, but it was not enough a salvage a point on the negative trek west.
