Game Five GameDay: Florida Panthers at Carolina Hurricanes

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta (Filter by TL)

The Florida Panthers failed to close out the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, losing 3-0 on home ice, so we return to Raleigh for Game 5. Logan Stankoven blasted the puck by Sergei Bobrovsky 10:45 into the second period to provide Frederik Andersen (20 saves) all the goal support he needed to save Carolina’s season. Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal tacked on empty-netters to complete the scoring. It was the Hurricanes first win in the third round of the playoffs since 2006. The Panthers failed to score on four power-play chances, passed up too many open looks and failed to get much traffic to the net. They’ve been much better on the road this postseason. We’ll see if that holds true tonight. Sam Reinhart, Niko Mikkola and A.J. Greer are expected to be back in the lineup.
