The Florida Panthers (33-31-3) will continue its four-game road trip when they pay a visit to the Edmonton Oilers (34-26-9) tonight at Rogers Place to conclude the season series between last year’s Stanley Cup combatants.
Florida fell to 0-2 on the trek west with Tuesday night’s sloppy 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and an assist; Sam Bennett scored his 25th of the season; and Carter Verhaeghe assisted on both markers. Sergei Bobrovsky gave up all five goals on 22 shots in his milestone 800th NHL appearance.
Despite dealing with the news of the loss of Leon Draisaitl for the rest of the regular season, the Oilers managed to post a big 5-3 win on home ice over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Connor Murphy, Vasily Podkolzin, Max Jones and Zach Hyman lit the lamp and Connor Ingram made 27 saves. Edmonton has won two in a row and is currently second in the Pacific Division.
