The Florida Panthers (3-0) will open a five-game road trip when they do battle with the Philadelphia Flyers (1-1) tonight at Wells Fargo Center in the second meeting of the season between the two clubs.
Florida is coming off a dominating 6-2 divisional win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Brad Marchand, Aaron Ekblad and Anton Lundell each had a goal and an assist and Evan Rodrigues, Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Reinhart also lit the lamp for the undefeated Panthers, who scored twice in each period to make what was expected to be their first real test of the season a bit of a laugher.
While the Cats were stomping the Senators, the visiting Flyers responded to their 2-1 season-opening loss to the Panthers in Sunrise by earning a point in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Bobby Brink netted a goal and added an assist and former Panther Owen Tippett and Travis Sanheim also scored for Philadelphia. Samuel Ersson made 35 saves before surrendering the game-winner to Seth Jarvis with 17 seconds left in the extra session.
