The Florida Panthers (33-29-3) hit the pacific northwest looking to extend its winning streak to four when they face the Seattle Kraken (30-26-9) tonight at Climate Pledge Arena in the first of two meetings between the two far-flung clubs this season.
Sam Reinhart, who won’t be on the four-game trip, scored a power-play goal 2:20 into overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. Reinhart also assisted on Sam Bennett’s power-play marker that tied the game early in the third period. Mike Benning picked up a helper in his NHL debut and Matthew Tkachuk and Mackie Samoskevich also had assists. Florida wouldn’t have won without Sergei Bobrvosky, who delivered a spectacular 30-save performance.
The Kraken played last night, beating the Canucks 5-2 in Vancouver to pull within a point of the second wild card in the Western Conference. Bobby McMann scored twice and added an assist in his Seattle debut after being acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs on deadline day. Former Panther Jared McCann, Jamie Oleksiak and Matty Beniers also scored for the Kraken, who got 32 saves from Philipp Grubauer.
