Two teams coming off Tuesday night losses will face off this evening when the Florida Panthers (32-20-3) face the St. Louis Blues (24-25-5) at Enterprise Center to close the season series.
The Panthers gave a good effort, but some sloppiness and not the best of starts from Sergei Bobrovsky resulted in a 6-3 loss to the Eastern Conference-leading Washington Capitals that was a lot closer than the final score indicates. Sam Bennett scored a goal and added an assist and captain Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk also lit the lamp for the Cats, who are nursing a one-point lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs, who also play tonight.
While the Panthers were busy getting beat by the Capitals, the Blues dropped a 3-2 decision to the Edmonton Oilers when Connor McDavid set up Connor Brown for the winner 2:33 into overtime, sending St. Louis to its fifth defeat in their last six games. Jordan Kyrou leads the Blues with 23 goals and 44 points. Former Oiler Dylan Holloway is second on the team in goals (16) and points (39).
