Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov returned to action on Thursday in Finland’s 5-4 loss to Switzerland at the Beijer Hockey Games in Ängelholm, Sweden. Barkov scored Finland’s only goal in the shootout, and Cats teammate Anton Lundell dished out three assists for the Finns, who will open the IIHF World Championship on March 15, versus Germany in Zurich.
Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov each had a goal and an assist in the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 3 at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Jalen Chatfield and Nikolaj Ehlers also lit the lamp, Shayne Gostisbehere and Jordan Martinook each had two assists, and Frederik Andersen stopped 18 shots. The Hurricanes are one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final.
