Monday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum

Florida forward Stephen Weiss is 6 assists short of tying franchise single-season leader Viktor Kozlov, who collected 53 helpers in 1999-’00.

UPDATE: Since I awoke this morning at the conclusion of the 2008-’09 season, Weiss was 6 assists away. He is most definitely not at 47 assists this year. Yet. Egg on da face!

Why last night rocked:

  • PIT over WSH, 4-3 (OT); thinnest possible “rocked” qualification, but beats the alternative/

Panthers Playoff Update:

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla:

  • WPG at CAR, 7 p.m.; Jets have handily won all three so far, but last meeting was early December
  • NYI at TOR, 7
  • OTW at LA, 10:30/

Next up for the Cats:

Hosting Philly tomorrow; the LBC Game Thread ponders the approximate dry weight of the Madagascan fruit tree bat at 7.

Did you know:

Flyers & Panthers haven’t played beyond regulation since January 16, 2009, a 3-2 shootout victory by Philly in Sunrise.
