Last week, the Florida Panthers released its 24-man roster for the upcoming 2025 NHL Prospect Tournament at AdventHealth Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, FL that will run from September 12 to September 15.
In addition to the usual bevy of unsigned Panthers draft picks and prospects on entry-level deals, the roster features a group of players that are signed directly to the Charlotte Checkers and a couple others looking to turn an invite into a professional contract.
Let’s get to know these players that aren’t property of the Panthers a little better.
Brett Chorske – Chorske recently finished his collegiate career after recording 28 goals and 73 points in 111 NCAA games over two seasons at Colorado College and two seasons at Colgate. The 6-foot-7 forward led the Raiders in goals and points this season and tied for second on the team in assists in 2023-24. He signed a two-year deal with the Checkers in March that begins this season and played 8 regular season games (3G/1A) and appeared in 12 postseason games (2G/1A) while on an ATO with the team.
Robert Mastrosimone – Mastrosimone inked a one-year AHL contract with Charlotte in July. A second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2019, the 24-year-old forward produced 10 goals and 14 points in 50 games last season for the Toronto Marlies – his second as a pro. Over the course of his brief AHL career, Mastrosimone has amassed 29 points in 95 games. He played three years at Boston University and one at Arizona State, totaling 92 points in 121 NCAA games
Liam McLinskey – The 24-year-old McLinsky signed a two-year, one-way AHL contract with the Checkers that starts this season in March. He joined Charlotte on an ATO to finish the 2024-25 campaign and produced a goal and four assists in six games. Last season, McLinskey finished second in the nation in scoring, racking up 54 points in 40 games for Holy Cross, and was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
Cristophe Tellier – Tellier signed a one-year, two-way AHL contract in March that starts this season. The 24-year-old forward recently completed his collegiate career after posting 69 points in 125 games over three seasons at Quinnipiac and one at Northeastern. Tellier ranked fifth on the Huskies in scoring this season and captured a national title with Quinnipiac in 2022-23. After finishing up with Northeastern, Tellier played six games for the ECHL’s Savannah Ghost Pirates (3G) and attended Florida’s recent development camp.
Carson Cameron – Like Tellier, the undrafted Cameron’s name might be familiar as he attended development camp with the Cats this summer. The 18-year-old defenseman has played two seasons of major junior with the Peterborough Petes. In 121 OHL games, he has produced 11 goals, 38 assists and 78 PIM.
Colton Huard – Huard recently completed a four-year career at the University of New Hampshire, where he totaled 14 goals and 67 points in 134 games and led the team’s blueliners in scoring for each of his first three seasons. In March, Charlotte signed Huard to a two-year, one-way AHL contract that starts this fall. He played three late season games for the club on an ATO and picked up his first professional point, an assist.
Eamon Powell – The 22-year-old defenseman signed a one-year, one-way AHL deal for the upcoming season with the Checkers in April. Powell recently finished a five-year run at Boston College, where he totaled 103 points in 170 games – giving him the program’s record for most career games played. He led the team’s defensemen in scoring in each of his last three seasons and served as the captain for his final two. After finishing up at BC, Powell appeared in five regular season tilts (1G/1A) and four postseason games (3A) with Charlotte while on an ATO.
Louis-Antoine Denault – Like Cameron, Denault is an invite who made an appearance at Florida’s development camp earlier this summer. The undrafted 18-year-old goalie has played two seasons of major junior with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. He went 17-17-5 with a .902 save percentage, 3.13 GAA and two shutouts in 2024-25.
