After losing the first two games at home, the Rimouski Oceanic have rallied to tie the President’s Cup final with the Quebec Remparts at two apiece. The Oceanic won in Quebec City by a 4-2 count for the second consecutive game.
Florida Panthers prospect Chris Clapperton finished the game with two assists, three shots on goal, two hits and a +1 rating. The two helpers gave Clapperton 21 points (10G/11A) in 15 postseason games.
The Remparts jumped out to a 2-0 lead on power-play goals from Kurt Etchegary and Nikolas Brouillard in the first 7:49 of action. Arizona Coyotes prospect Anthony Duclair assisted on both goals.
Clapperton drew the primary assist on Alexis Loiseau’s power-play marker at the 10:57 mark. Jan Kostalek tied the game with three seconds left in the opening period.
Frederik Gauthier potted the eventual game-winner at 5:30 of the second period, with the lone assist going to Clapperton. Guillaume McSween put the Oceanic up by two later in the frame to complete the scoring.
Louis-Philip Guindon turned aside 21 ahots to get the win while Zachary Fucale took the loss, finishing with 8 saves on 12 shots before giving way to Callum Booth.
Game five of the series is on Friday in Rimouski.
