Florida Panthers crush Dallas Stars 6-0 in Tulsa

The Florida Panthers exploded offensively and Sam Montembeault strengthened his case to be the club’s backup goaltender with a 30-save shutout as the Florida Panthers crushed the Dallas Stars 6-0 in Tulsa, OK for its first win of the preseason.

Anthony Greco scored twice and added an assist and Henrik Borgstrom and Owen Tippett each produced a goal and an assist.

Mike Hoffman (PPG) and newcomer Noel Acciari were the other Florida goalscorers.

Frank Vatrano, Mike Matheson, Troy Brouwer, Denis Malgin, Mark Pysyk and Riley Stillman collected assists in the laugher. Stillman finished with a game-high +4 rating.

The determined Cats out-shot the Stars by a tidy 42-30 margin and only took one penalty.

Ben Bishop started for Dallas and stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced. Jake Oettinger didn’t far as well, making 13 saves on 18 shots.

The Panthers (1-3-1) will close the exhibition slate with three straight games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
