Panthers at Stars: 3 (more) Questions with Defending Big D

In advance of tonight’s rematch between the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars, Defending Big D’s Josh Lile dropped back in to briefly touch on few things with yours truly.

Following the comeback win over the Panthers in Sunrise, the Stars swept through Pennsylvania with wins in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. After a perfect 4-0 road trip, are they due for the dreaded letdown game in the homestand opener tonight?

At some point the Stars are probably going to lose, but pinpointing it at a certain date wouldn’t make much sense. They’re rolling. They beat the Penguins without Tyler Seguin or Jamie Benn scoring. I don’t have any reason to expect a loss, though it could always happen..

What impressed you the most about the Panthers in last week’s game, and as a fan of the opposing team, what weaknesses did you see?

I was surprised at how good Jaromir Jagr still looked. The biggest weakness, to me, is a lack of high end talent. They seem to be a deep group, but they don’t have the high end talent to be a top tier team. They have guys who can develop into that top tier, but they aren’t there yet

With Seguin, Benn, Spezza and Janmark providing the bulk of the offense, who is a player that maybe needs to step up for the Stars and chip in some goals to help keep the good times rolling?

Patrick Sharp. He’s been a quality player but he hasn’t contributed offensively yet. He’s come very close a few times. At some point he’s going to break out, especially playing with Benn and Seguin.

LBC would like to thank Josh for stopping by for the second time in a mere week (thank you, schedule-makers). Give him a twitter follow at @JoshL1220 and check out Defending Big D for more Cats – Stars pregame, as Dallas looks to make it six straight with a win over the Barkov-less Cats.
