Red rallies past White for 6-4 win in Panthers development camp scrimmage

The Florida Panthers wrapped its week-long development camp with a spirited scrimmage on Friday morning. Team Red rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Team White by a final count of 6-4 at Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs.

The game consisted of two twenty-five minute periods and the White squad got off to a fast start in the first with a goal from Jack Ahcan and a pair from Anthony Greco. Sandwiched between Greco’s goals was a tally from Dryden Hunt.

Colin Stevens surrendered all three goals in the Red net, while Ryan Bednard was only beaten once.

The Red team exploded in second period, scoring four times in rapid-fire style. Justin Danforth and Patrick Shea lit the lamp to tie the game before Rihards Bukarts converted a penalty shot to give Red the lead. Juho Lammikko slapped one home to make it 5-3 and Hunt scored again to push the lead to three.

Second round pick Adam Mascherin completed the scoring with White’s only goal of the final frame.

Samuel Montembeault stood tall in the Red goal, giving up just one goal. University of Denver’s Evan Cowley was in the White net and was beaten five times.

After the game, the sides ran a 5-on-5 shootout that the White team won 3-1. 2016 first-rounder Henrik Borgstrom scored this pretty goal below on Montembeault.
