NHL hands Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov four-game suspension
Cats' blueliner will sit out Canadian portion of road trip.
Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov was suspended four games for his "hip check" on Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin on Friday night at the American Airlines Center. He was given a five-minute major penalty for clipping and received a game misconduct.
Kulikov has already served the first game of the suspension, sitting out in the Panthers 2-1 shootout loss to St. Louis last night. The 24-year-old will miss the club's next three games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators and also forfeit $93,168.96 in salary, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. It was the first fine or suspension Kulikov has received in his young career
The Cats recalled Shane O'Brien from San Antonio to fill in for Kulikov for the stint, unless captain Willie Mitchell returns from injured reserve before the suspension is over.
I find the suspension of Kulikov

A little harsh, but I get it | 47 |
